Attrib. George Henry Edwards (1859-1918)- Early 20thC Watercolour, Flower Market



A charming Edwardian portrait of a smiling woman with a black hat and a bunch of daisies. The painting is unsigned, with an inscription at the reverse of the paper. One inscription is in the artist's hand reading "Flower Market." The other inscription is in a later hand with the artist's name and the provenance: "Original painting, not signed. Came from the artist's studio clearance." The later inscription is repeated at the reverse of the frame. Presented in a 20th Century gilt frame. On wove.


The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and foxing. Frame is in fine condition.

Artist Biography

Painter born in Clifton, Bristol who was active from the early 1880's onwards. His favourite subject appears to have been classically posed nudes and a painting by Geo H.
