Anthony Bream - Signed Limited Edition Etching
DescriptionAnthony Bream - A fine and interesting etching with aquatint pencil signed lower right Bream 75 and numbered 8-50. In excellent condition, not laid down. On wove.ANTONY BREAM (b. 1943) Antony Bream attended the Royal Academy Schools in London, where, bucking the fashionable trend towards abstraction, he studied figurative art under Peter Greenham and drew his inspiration from the giants of the early twentieth century, William Orpen, Frank Brangwyn and in particular John Singer Sargent. He has travelled extensively in Europe, America, Kenya and India and his watercolors and oil paintings are full of elegant brushwork and colour. James Knox in The Art Newspaper has said of Antony Bream ?His paintings have a pure uncluttered quality revealing the assurance of a mature talent. And, as such, they have a durability capable of outlasting the efforts of his flashier contemporaries?. His commissioned work has included painting gold mining in Spain and cable-laying in Bermuda. Many exhibitions of his work have been held in London, including the Fine Art Society, Maas Gallery, David Messum, the Royal Geographical Society and the St. James?s Art Group, and in New York. Paintings by him form part of the art collection which his brother, the classical guitarist Julian Bream, has recently donated to the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
