DescriptionAn expressive and abstract nude study from English artist Anthony Barnard Harris, depicting a woman reaching for a wine glass. Completed in Harris' naive style and in an array of bright colours that have been expressly applied to the card with areas of oil crayon. Inscribed with the title at the lower right. The image has been painted on thick card then cut and laid to thinner paper. A label for 'Madeleine Shaw Publishers' on the reverse. Signed and dated.
Areas of surface dirt and minor crashing to the edges of the paper. Otherwise in fine condition.

Painter, who studied at Reading University and then went onto study Art History at the Courtauld Institute of Art. He became Principal of St. Albans School of Art, 1967-75, and Vice-Principal of Chelsea School of Art, 1975-86. In 1982, he was elected Master of the John Ruskin Guild of St. George. 1986 saw him appointed Head of Camberwell School of Arts & Crafts and Assistant Rector of the London Institute. Harris has exhibited widely in London, the provinces and in Italy.
