A charming landscape depicting a church by a river, presented in a decorative gilt effect frame. Signed to the lower left. Signed. On canvas.


The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some minor discolouration. There is some very minor undulation to the canvas. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration.

Alfred Harford's work has been offered at auction multiple times. His artwork "Sunset Highland river landscape" sold for $578 USD at Bonhams Oxford in 2011.

Artist Biography

Alfred Harford (1848-1915) was a member of the Royal West of England Academy. He born in Bristol and was known to paint scenes from rural life in oils. He frequently painted scenes from North Wales, submitting pictures of Betws-y-Coed, Pont-y-Pant and Beddgelert to the RWA annual exhibitions.
