Artist Biography
Albert Thomas Pile, MSM, FRSA, SGA (1882-1981) was born in London, and studied at the Central School, Goldsmith's, Camberwell and Bournemouth Colleges of Art. He first visited Whitby on sketching holidays in the early 1940s. A civil servant, during the Second World War he was an official artist to the Information Ministry. He lived in Whitby in retirement and was a member of the Fylingdales Group.
