A finely drawn original pen and ink drawing, after an illustration by William Heath entitled 'Come on - it's only Charley my darling'. The humorous scene depicts a dishevelled room with two gentlemen and a lady. Well-presented in a wide washline mount and gilt frame, as shown. Signed with monogram. On wove.


In fine condition. Clean mount, with some scuffing to the frame.

Artist Biography

William Heath (1794-1840) was a British artist and illustrator, best known for his published engravings and caricatures, political cartoons and commentary. His early work often dealt with military subjects, but from around 1820 onwards, Heath focussed on satire. Many of his works can be found in the British Museum catalogue.
