18th Century Watercolour - Archway In The Woods
Description
A sunny wooded path with a ruinous archway and gate posts topped with urns. The painting has a style reminiscent of that of the skilled watercolour painter Paul Sandby (1731-1809). The painting is presented in a well executed wash-line mount and a gilt effect reeded frame. This painting has come from the private collection of Iolo Williams, the Welsh nature observer and television presenter, best known for his BBC and S4C nature shows. Unsigned. On watercolour paper.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There is a line of light burn visible the top of the painting and there is a small dent to the top edge of the frame.
