1821 Engraving - Memorial To King George III
Description
A striking engraving commemorating the life of King George III showing the memorial built in his honour that resides at Longford Castle in Wiltshire. Inscribed and with coats of arms on each side, and decorative border.
Engraving and etching on chine-collé. There is copy of this original print in the British Museum archives.
This print was published in 1821 by F. Steele.
On thin wove laid to thicker wove.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There is some dirtying to the surface, especially on the backing paper outside of the plate lines. There is creasing to the top edge and the top left corner outside the plate lines and a small crease to the lower right quadrant within the plate line.
