Original 1662 Engraving. Hand coloured engraving, page 103 of 'L'histoire de la décadence de l'empire grec et establissement de celuy des Turcs'. Condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and staining to the edges as pictured. Some loss of paper on bottom right hand corner and creasing to the paper in the upper right.

From a collection of seventeen engravings originally published in the Byzantine Greek historian, Laonikos Chalkokondyles', 'L'histoire de la décadence de l'empire grec et establissement de celuy des Turcs' and his 'Histoire generale des Turcs, des Mogols et Des Autres Tatares Occidentaux, Avant et Depuis Jesus-Christ Jusqu'a Present' which was published in Paris circa 1662. Engravings are hand coloured, several after Nicolas de Nicolay, with French text on verso. Collection Code: B7A
